    Kenneth D. Thieneman

    President & CEO

    As President/Owner of Thieneman Construction, Inc., I understand how the water and wastewater industry can be changed through innovative technology that is truly sustainable and environmentally friendly. My passion is based solely on the ability to provide clean water for a healthy environment and community. The increasing demand for clean water will be the single greatest challenge of mankind in the next century.

    I have over 25 years of experience in the water and wastewater industry, and I have performed the majority of every job associated with the construction of a treatment plant, including all field and office responsibilities. This gives me the empathy to form a connection to our customers and their engineers, our company, and especially to our employees. When I graduated from Purdue University in 1987, I began my career working for Clearwater Constructors in Texas. During my three year tenure, I worked on a $50M waste water plant, a 10-story federal courthouse building, and a federal printing press project. My career in environmental construction continued for over ten years with Bowen Engineering where I became the vice-president of operations. My pursuits directed me to start Thieneman Construction in 1999 to be a self-performing environmental contractor that provides value engineering services. Thieneman Construction self-performs the site work, concrete construction, mechanical systems, and process equipment. Our relationships with the engineers, owners, subcontractors, and vendors have been the key to our success in this industry. Our relationships are built through trust, hard work, and integrity. I promote a company-wide dedication to self-performance and nurturing our in-house technical capabilities. Our employee ownership culture instills the commitment necessary for our professional development. I believe one’s persistence provides them power to shape the future, which is why our motto is “Excellence is the Standard”.

    I am rewarded on a daily basis by the complexity of our projects and the accomplishments of our work force.     Chief Financial Officer

    At Thieneman Construction, we provide world-class construction services to our customers because our field personnel, management team, and vendors are second to none.

    I provide executive financial and administrative leadership to Thieneman Construction, assisting our management team with determining strategic business direction and appropriate alignment of financial strategies, while fostering integrity and fairness in our customer, employee, and vendor relationships. As a management team, we strive to lead the Company by stimulating excellence from our employees and vendors, which provides our customers with innovative, high quality construction services and allows all parties to achieve strategic and financial objectives. Our management team continues to innovate by implementing best-in-class practices in operations and administration.

    Prior to joining Thieneman, I served the construction field for more than twenty years with two regional CPA firms where I spent my time dedicated to working with contractors, including management and operations personnel, providing management consulting, tax and audit/accounting services.

    Julie Schrader, PHR

    Human Resource Manager

    I am a graduate of Indiana University Kelley School of Business with over 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience. I started my HR career in the manufacturing industry and from there moving to the service and trucking industry, including my previous position as Director of Human Resources for Quality Companies, LLC.  Each of these positions has given me the knowledge to build and sustain a Human Resources Department for TCI that will most benefit both the employees and the company.

    At Thieneman Construction, Inc., I am responsible for starting the Human Resource Department and implementing programs and procedures for its employees. As a Human Resources Manager, I am responsible for the overall employee relations and benefits. My greatest strength is my ability to connect and communicate with employees, interns, potential employees, and vendors in a way that develops relationships and promotes overall company morale.

    My husband Chris and I have been married over 10 years and we enjoy being with family, Purdue sports and our dog, Max.

    General Manager

    For the past twenty years, since graduating from Purdue University in Civil Engineering, I have been involved in design, construction and startup of public and private project. For the past 13 years, my attention has been focused towards working as a self-performing general contractor in the water and wastewater industry construction projects. I am responsible for the overall success of projects I manage while ensuring that each project meets the satisfaction of the client, and exceeds customer’s objectives in the areas of cost, schedule, quality and safety.

    Working at an early age with my father, a mechanical engineer, I learned the value of providing up front innovative cost saving ideas, conceptual design means and construction methods to bring each project to a win-win completion for all stakeholders. I have been applying these lessons learned in both public and private projects while at Thieneman Construction and recently several projects with the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers.

    Being a good manager is leading by example and putting forth hard work, sound character and high ethical standards, all of which are the basis of the principles at Thieneman Construction. These attributes, which characterize the culture here at Thieneman Construction, coupled with my passion for construction, has afforded me the opportunity to reach mutually successful outcomes on every project.

    My wife Mila and I have been married for 23 years and have raised three daughters Alicia, Amanda and Allyson. I believe my involvement in their education and sports activities has taught me the value of balance between work and life that keeps me energized and excited about my profession and desire to work every day.

    Joshua Morris, P.E.

    Contract Manager

    My experience in the wastewater industry began during college as an intern for a municipal contractor. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and am a licensed Professional Engineer in Indiana. While my post graduate experience began at Thieneman Construction, I left for a short time to work for an engineering consulting firm where my tasks focused on the design of several wastewater treatment plants, sanitary collection sewers, storm water systems and dam rehabilitations. I returned to Thieneman Construction as a Project Engineer after receiving my Professional Engineer License.

    At Thieneman Construction, I have worked as a Project Engineer, Project Manager and now a Contract Manager supervising three Project Managers and their staffs.  I have been involved with a variety of water & wastewater projects in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky utilizing different treatment technologies and construction methods and working for a variety of Owners and working with multiple engineering consultants.

    I enjoy the team atmosphere of construction and the comradery of the project team. Every day is an opportunity for learning. I am constantly learning new things from the upper management who run the company and our skilled tradesmen that put our work in to place.

    My wife, Angie, and our young son, Adler, help to keep me grounded in reality. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, attending Purdue sporting and alumni events, and chasing my golf ball around the golf course.

    Craig Steele

    Contract Manager

    My career in construction management began in the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps (CEC) following my ROTC scholarship and Civil Engineering degree from Purdue University in 1993. During my time in the Civil Engineer Corps I served as both a Resident Officer In Charge of Construction and a Public Works Officer.  In 1999, I resigned from the Navy to pursue my true passion of commercial construction management.  I truly appreciate my Navy scholarship, and I also believe my military entrance into construction management provided me a unique and accelerated exposure to a wide variety of construction projects, and invaluable leadership training.

    After my resignation from the US Navy CEC in 1999, I accepted a project management position with a large commercial building general contractor in Atlanta. In 2002, my family and I returned to Indiana and I accepted a project management position with Pepper Construction in Indianapolis.  While at Pepper, I started Pepper Indiana’s Self-Perform Group, which was essentially an internal subcontractor self-performing all types of work performed by union carpenters, laborers and operators.  After 13 years at Pepper, I felt that I needed a new challenge and began pursuing opportunities where I could better utilize my civil engineering degree.

    After a targeted search in 2015, I found the opportunity I was looking for at Thieneman Construction, and joined their leadership team. My knowledge and experience in construction management, business, leadership, and self-perform trade work were immediately transferrable.  I enjoy the fast-paced, collaborative, and technical nature of our work, and take pride in improving the environmental systems in the communities in which we work.  I also enjoy contributing to the strategic growth plan of the Company’s future development.

    My family and I live in Westfield, IN, and while I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time wife my wife, Nisha, and our two daughters, Madeline and Jessica. We have a boat and enjoy the being on the water as often as we can.  I enjoy fishing, and most other outdoor activities.  I also enjoy sports, and attend as many sporting events as possible.  My wife and I also like to cook, grill, entertain, and visit Indianapolis’s many great restaurants.

    Mark Hall

    Contract Manager

    As a Contract Manager, Project Manger and Superintendent with various contractors, I am responsible for project administration, including project start-up, staffing, and contract negotiation with subcontractors. I oversee maintenance of quality control systems, schedule requirements, cost accountability, and the establishment of management systems.  My roles have included Project Superintendent, Project Manager and Area Manager engaging in close coordination among all project team members, ensuring Owner’s a successful project delivery.

    I have twenty-nine years of construction industry experience  and extensive experience covering multiple project types in the Water and Wastewater Industry.

    I also do competitive body building and enjoy riding my Harley in my off time as well as spending time with friends and family.

    Matt Green, P.E.

    Project Manager

    My experience in the water and wastewater industry began in 2004 when I was in between my freshman and sophomore years studying Construction Engineering at Purdue University. As part of my degree, we were required to complete three summer internships with a general contractor to gain experience outside the classroom. I was set up with a young company called Thieneman Construction, Inc. I ended up accepting a full time project engineer position with TCI in December 2007 and have worked on numerous water and wastewater projects ranging in size from $10,000 up to $10 million all around Indiana and Illinois.

    In my career here at Thieneman Construction, Inc., I’ve progressed from college intern to project engineer to field superintendent to my current role of project manager. I’ve been blessed to have the opportunity to experience all phases of our projects and roles involved with estimating, planning, contracting, engineering, managing, building and delivering interesting, important, and exciting projects for many different cities and communities around our great state, as well as Illinois and Kentucky. My work and school experiences also helped me achieve a goal of mine in becoming a registered professional Engineer in the state of Indiana in April of 2013.

    I fully enjoy the fast paced environment and unique projects and challenges we undertake on a daily basis. What makes it even more enjoyable for me is the team here at Thieneman Construction. It truly feels like an extended family. Furthermore, the strong relationships we build with our owners, engineers, suppliers and subcontractors are just as valuable to me as the structures we build.

    When I’m away from work I enjoy staying active and doing anything outdoors, especially playing golf. I’m also a huge sports fan and love to spend time with friends and family, especially my girlfriend Jade and our sons Kaden, Brandon, & Ryan.

    Matt McCoy

    Project Manager

    As a 1995 graduate of Purdue University, I have over 20 years in the construction industry. I have worked for a variety of municipal and private clients throughout the US. In addition to managing waste water treatment projects, I have experience managing complex projects in heavy highway, healthcare, transportation, petrochemical, and large civil. I have been involved in projects ranging in size from $200,000 to a $3,000,000. I enjoy the challenges that come with every new project and welcome the opportunity to build something unique.

    As a project manager, I have a very simple philosophy regarding the relationship I build with a client. I believe that it is my responsibility to build the best possible project in the shortest possible time, exceeding the client’s expectations. I am proud of the fact that many projects I have managed resulted in additional negotiated projects.

    Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful wife, Barb. We have six kids and though they are getting older now, we do get to see them often. I enjoy going on vacations with the family to tropical places. Living in Indiana, my free time is filled with outdoor activities such as boating, hunting, ATV’s, snowmobile and occasionally tearing a motor apart in my shop.

    Josh Espich

    Project Manager

    I naturally gravitated towards construction because I enjoy a practical, hands-on working environment. I also have numerous family members in various construction trades around where I was raised in Columbia City, IN.  I started college at Purdue University in 2007 where I enrolled in Construction Engineering and Management. I began interning that summer with Layne Heavy Civil in Lancaster, OH on the construction of a brand new $30M wastewater treatment plant. I continued interning with Layne Heavy Civil working in Lancaster, OH as well as Batavia, OH. After completing my Construction Engineering and Management Degree in 2011, I started full time with Layne as a Project Engineer and began working out of their Indianapolis, IN office on various projects in the Indianapolis and Louisville area. I was eventually relocated to Mt. Pleasant, TX and worked there for a year to help continue construction and finish a new water treatment plant.

    After working in Texas, my eventual goal was to be located in the Midwest, so I reached out to Thieneman Construction, Inc. and started in 2013 as a project engineer out of the Merrillville, IN office. I continued on as a project engineer working on projects from the north suburbs of Chicago, IL all the way to South Bend, IN on projects ranging from $100,000 up to $13M. Thieneman Construction has continually provided me with opportunities to excel and advance, which has led to my current role as a Project Manager.

    Through my career, I have worked with numerous Engineers and Owners over five different states, solely in water and wastewater centered construction. I particularly enjoy the challenges that come with engineering, construction, and logistic aspects of water and wastewater construction that are unique to each project, because construction normally occurs while maintaining the operation of an existing facility. I always strive to help instill a culture of quality, safety, and efficiency on my projects that ultimately leads to a project that  both Thieneman Construction and the Owner can be proud of.

    In my free time I enjoy venturing around Chicago, IL where I currently reside and squeezing in a round of golf when I can. I also enjoy spending time boating and fishing on the lakes in northeast Indiana during the summer.

    Bryan Egli

    Project Manager

    I have the honor of being a 2000 graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a degree in Civil Engineering. Since graduating from Rose-Hulman, I have had the pleasure of being involved in almost every aspect of water/wastewater, transportation and site development construction projects, from my early days as a consulting engineer to my current position as a manager of construction projects.  During my career, I have managed construction projects of various size and magnitude; from time and material maintenance contracts to new complete water/wastewater systems for municipalities, ranging in contract amounts from a few hundred dollars to over $30 million.  My specific role at Thieneman Construction while very complex in nature can be simply described as being responsible for all aspects of ensuring the overall success of projects not only for Thieneman Construction but also for our clients and vendors in kind.

    Having played athletics most of my life, I am well aware that one does not succeed without the hard work and dedication of others. We are blessed at Thieneman Construction to have one of the hardest working, talented groups of individuals in the industry and together we strive every day to exceed the clients expectations in the areas of cost, schedule, quality and safety.

    Outside the office, when not spending time with my family (wife – Ginny and daughters – Grace and Emme), I enjoy roaming the country looking for that next great golf shot that only true “hackers” like me can truly appreciate.

    Mike Robinson

    Estimating Manager

    My role at Thieneman Construction Inc. is the Estimating Manager.  I have over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry specializing in mechanical systems of all types.  My extensive background in this field allows me to provide Thieneman Construction Inc. with the experience it needs to successfully prepare accurate and on-time estimates.

    In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and outdoor activities of all types.

    Tim Riggen

    General Superintendent

    Starting out as a union carpenter, I always had dreams to advance my career to management within the construction industry. I was promoted to foreman, then superintendent and now enjoy the role of general superintendent for Thieneman Construction. I manage all field operations and equipment on all of our construction projects. Of my 32 years of field experience, 26 years have been in supervision.

    Working for Thieneman Construction has given me a sense of pride knowing that a quality project with the highest standards will be delivered to the owner on time. Developing field employees and their skills to advance them to the next level in the construction industry is very rewarding to me.

    I am proud to be on the Thieneman team. I enjoy the same goals as the company which is to look back on a finished product and say that we (Thieneman Construction, union members, design engineers and owners) have completed another successful project that makes us all proud.
