Belmont Grit & Screenings Conveyor Crew

Excellent work performed by the Belmont Crew during the second 24-hour shutdown on the Belmont Grit & Screenings Conveyor Project. The crew demolished an existing conveyor and installed a new 112 foot long 24” wide conveyor within a 24-hour period while under live flow and without interruption of the normal plant operation. As this was the second shutdown of similar kind, the crew did a great job of learning from speed bumps encountered during the first installation and performed the work in less overall time. Kudos to everyone involved.

Project Engineer

General Contractor is seeking experienced project engineers to work in the Chicago, northwest Illinois and Indiana regions. Projects range in size from $1 to $10 million. Project Engineer must be capable of performing fundamental surveying for laying out equipment and pipe. The successful candidate will have experience in estimating, purchasing, submittal review, and cost control on civil and/or mechanical type projects. The applicant must have the ability to lay out pipe systems and equipment as well as the ability to coordinate subcontractors in the field. Experience in water and wastewater industry will be beneficial, but not required.

Estimator

We are a general contractor specializing in Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant construction, and have an opening for an Estimator in our north side Indy office.

Duties of an Estimator will include take-off work in concrete, earthwork, mechanical, and underground utilities. The successful candidate will have experience in estimating, purchasing, cost control and buy out on heavy civil and/or mechanical type projects. Estimators must have an ability to focus for lengthy periods and be highly detail-oriented. Field operational experience will be a plus.

This position requires a highly organized, professional, and energetic person who works well within a team environment. A successful applicant will have relevant construction or industry experience.

Project Manager

General Contractor is seeking a project manager for Chicago, Northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana experienced in managing projects in varying size between $1 and $10 million. Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of experience, preferably in the construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities. Applicants should have first-hand knowledge in the construction of concrete, earthwork, mechanical equipment, electrical, and process pipe work. The individual applying for this position must have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to assemble a project team that can coordinate all aspects of a project between the owner, engineer and subcontractors.

The applicant must be able to estimate, buy out projects, forecast cost and schedule. A strong background in mechanical construction is preferred.

State Park unveils eco frienldly WWTP

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources on Wednesday unveiled the Indiana Dunes State Park’s innovative new wastewater treatment facility.

The plant is among the first 10 in the U.S. using the Algewheel, an Indianapolis-manufactured product. The treatment plant uses algae to help bacteria clean the water, produces less carbon dioxide, less solid wastes and uses 75% less energy than the previous plant, officials said.

The system treats all of the wastewater generated within the state park and replaces a 40 year old plant that became too cost-prohibitive to maintain, according to the IDNR.
